A Family Business Built Around Fairness
Founded in 1992 by Frank and now run alongside his sons, Mike and Frank Jr., Frank & Sons Chimney Care serves Greater Pittsburgh with one guiding principle: fairness first.
A Family Business Built Around Fairness
Frank & Sons Chimney Care traces its roots to 1992, when founder Frank turned years of hands-on experience into a company of his own. Frank had already been learning the trade since he was a teenager. Long before there was a company name, a website, or a service area covering Greater Pittsburgh, there was simply the work: learning how chimneys are built, how masonry ages, how fireplaces draft, how water finds its way into a chimney system, and how to explain those problems clearly to a homeowner.
The principle Frank carried into the business was simple: fairness comes first.
That idea still shapes how Frank & Sons approaches a home today. A chimney can be difficult for a homeowner to evaluate from the ground. Many important components are hidden, and words such as liner, crown, flashing, smoke chamber, firebox, damper, and repointing can make a repair recommendation sound more complicated than it needs to be. Our goal is to make the condition of the system understandable before a homeowner makes a decision.
The Next Generation
Today, Frank works alongside his sons, Mike and Frank Jr. The company has grown, but the family character has remained important. Frank & Sons now has a team of about 15 people, and the philosophy is that employees should be treated like family too.
For us, being a family business is not about putting the word “family” on a page. It means building a team around the same standards: show up prepared, respect the home, look carefully before recommending work, explain what you find, and never forget that the homeowner is trusting you with part of their house.
Fairness Before the Sale
One of the values Frank has emphasized since the beginning is fairness first. That means we want recommendations to match the condition of the chimney, not the size of the possible job. When repair is a reasonable option, homeowners should understand that option. When a larger repair is justified, they should understand why. When inspection is the appropriate first step, we would rather begin there than guess.
Pittsburgh Chimneys Require a Practical Approach
Greater Pittsburgh has a wide mix of housing. Some homes have older masonry chimneys and fireplaces that have been changed, closed off, relined, converted, or connected to different appliances over the decades. Others have newer systems that still face Western Pennsylvania rain, snow, moisture, and repeated freeze-thaw weather.
That is why we do not believe every chimney problem should receive the same answer. A leak can involve flashing, a crown, mortar joints, porous masonry, a cap, or more than one source. A fireplace that has not been used in years should be evaluated before someone simply lights a fire. Deteriorated mortar does not automatically mean an entire chimney must be rebuilt. And a recommendation involving a liner should make sense for the actual condition and use of the flue. The right starting point is understanding what is there.
A Team That Works Like Family
Frank & Sons has changed since 1992. The team is larger, the service area is broader, and the tools used to inspect and repair chimney systems have evolved. What has not changed is the expectation that the company should still feel personal.
Frank, Mike, Frank Jr., and the rest of the team work with the idea that reputation is built one home at a time. That means respecting the property, keeping the work area as clean as practical, communicating clearly, and taking the time to explain what was found.
We serve Pittsburgh and surrounding communities throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area with chimney cleaning, inspections, repairs, masonry work, liners, caps, crowns, leak solutions, fireplace services, and related chimney care.
If you are unsure what your chimney needs, the first goal is not to sell you the biggest repair. It is to understand the system, identify the problem, and give you a clear path forward. That is the standard Frank built the company around in 1992, and it remains the standard behind Frank & Sons Chimney Care today.
The Standards Behind Every Job
The same expectations Frank built the company around, carried by the whole team.
Recommendations That Fit the Chimney
We want the recommendation to match the condition of the chimney, not the size of the possible job. A limited repair should not automatically become a rebuild.
Understand Before You Decide
Many chimney components are hidden. We make the condition of the system understandable before you make a decision — in plain language.
Start by Understanding What's There
The right starting point is understanding the system. We'd rather begin with an inspection than guess at a repair.
Your Home Comes First
Show up prepared, respect the property, keep the work area as clean as practical, and never forget the homeowner is trusting us with part of their house.
Built for Western PA
We understand how our region's rain, snow, moisture, and freeze-thaw weather affect chimneys — and how varied Pittsburgh's older housing really is.
A Team Treated Like Family
About 15 people who work to the same standards. Being a family business isn't a word on a page — it's how the whole team operates.

We believe good chimney service combines workmanship with communication. Frank, Mike, Frank Jr., and the team work with the idea that reputation is built one home at a time — respecting the property, communicating clearly, and taking the time to explain what was found.
